Parks & Camping Cherokee's parks offer many opportunities for enjoyment for all residents and visitors. Gillette Park, home of the Bacon Aquatic Center, a favorite of young and old alike! The aquatic center, new in 2007, has a zero-entry pool with children's features including a sand play area and splash pad. Older swimmers enjoy a flume slide as well as an enclosed tower slide. See the Bacon Aquatic Center page for more information. Contained within Gillette Park is a new, large playground area, a walking trail, and an open shelter with tables and benches for your enjoyment. The Centennial Shelter is available for your picnic gathering, reservation fee for this shelter is $30 for 5 hours or less, $50 for more than 5 hours, or it is available on a first come/first serve basis at no cost (as long as it is not reserved.) We are NOT taking reservations for the Yacht Club at this time due to the June 2024 flood. The Yacht Club (opened in June 2013) is available for all types of gatherings such as family and class reunions, wedding receptions, bridal and baby showers, business meetings and events.
