The Cherokee Fire Department is a multifaceted department consisting of 30 volunteer firefighters as well as a professional Driver and Chief.  The fire station is staffed five days a week, with split shifts 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Equipment consists of 3 pumpers, 1 aerial truck, 1 tanker, 2 brush trucks and 1 boat.

The department provides fire, rescue, and hazardous material services for the area of Cherokee and surrounding rural areas.  The department also maintains several agreements with surrounding communities to assist with major incidents or on a “as needed” basis.

The CFD actively participates in fire prevention activities, fire extinguisher training, junior firefighter programs, rental inspections, building code enforcement and community events. The CFD does fire extinguisher service and can put you in contact with someone who sells fire extinguishers if you are in need.

The CFD is actively seeking new volunteer firefighters to assist with different areas of emergency scenes.
