Oak Hill Cemetery is located just west of Cherokee along County Road C38. Lots are available for purchase from the City Clerk at a cost of $400.00. There are some free burial spaces available for veterans and their spouses.
The cemetery is well-cared for, with at least three full time-workers doing mowing and maintenance jobs during the summer months.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
- No glass containers shall be allowed.
- All flowers, real or artificial, flower arrangements, and plants appearing to have been blown off or haphazardly moved from their original location which cannot be returned to said location shall be removed from the cemetery and discarded.
- Flowers for Memorial Day: After Memorial Day, the Cemetery Sexton has the authority to relocate all real or plastic flowers that are not in permanent urns or permanent vases, as close to the headstone as possible. All flowers, real or plastic, so relocated may remain through July 4th. On July 5th and after, any arrangement which has not been cared for by relatives can be removed by the Cemetery Sexton and his employees at their discretion.
